Search for an app on your iPhone

Ever feel like you can’t find the app you’re looking for? As phones have gotten more powerful the number of apps that the average user has installed has skyrocketed. Sometimes the best way to find an app is not by looking for its icon. This visual guide will show you how to use the search feature to type in the name of an app to launch it. No more scrolling through endless home screens to find the app you’re looking for!

Steps:

Start from any home screen

  1. From the center of the screen, drag your finger down until the keyboard comes up.
  2. Type in the app you're searching for. In this demo we'll type in "Sett" for "Settings."
  3. You'll notice suggestions pop up near the top of the screen. Type until you see the app you're looking for. In our case, we only needed to type "Sett" before the Settings App came up.
  4. Tap the icon of the app you're looking for, or click "Go" in the bottom right.
